Stone Arch Bridge Festival 2014

The band and I are incredibly excited to once again be playing at the Stone Arch Bridge Festival -- it is a great event and we always have ourselves a good time! I will be joined by none other than Blair Krivanek on guitar, Nick Salisbury on bass, Jordan Carlson on drums and The Legendary Stook! himself on piano. We play on Sunday, June 15 from 1:15 - 2 pm on the Star Tribune Stage in Father Hennepin Park. If you've come to see us in the past, this is a different stage than we've played before, so don't get lost! They always run a tight ship down there, so we will start right on time. Great music, great art and great food -- sounds like all you'd ever need on a weekend in June! Looking forward to seeing you there!

Moto-I

On Wednesday, May 7, we're back for round two at Moto-I! I will be once again joined by the dynamic duo of Nick Salisbury on bass and Blair Krivanek on guitar, who will be drinking beer and melting faces all night. We'll be previewing a bunch of new songs from my forthcoming record and having a hell of a good time doing it! So come on out out for some fried rice, sake and live music -- if you don't like at least one of those three things, you should probably seek some professional help. Looking forward to seeing you there!

Dusty's on Friday!

Hello friends! I will be playing a set this Friday, March 7th at Dusty's in fabulous Northeast Minneapolis, where I will be accompanied by the finest bass player on either side of the Mississippi, Mr. Nick Salisbury! We will be opening for singer/songwriter/nicestguyever Doug Collins and his band The Receptionists. It's going to be a great night of beer, tasty Dago sandwiches and live music -- what's not to love? Hope to see you there!

Thanks and Happy 2014!

Happy New Year! It was a great run of shows to close out the year, and I would just like to say thanks to everyone who made it out -- I couldn't have had more fun, and it was great to see so many familiar faces! And a big thanks as well to J.T. Viele, Jim Walsh, and David Booth, as well as the folks at Moto-I, Harriet Brewing, and The Acadia for letting us make a ruckus. See you all soon!

Moto-I tonight, Hootenanny on Thursday

Tonight's the night! Come on down to Moto-I and shake off Monday with some music, fried rice and sake! Joining me tonight will be Nick Salisbury on bass and Blair Krivanek on guitar, and maybe, just maybe, Nick will bust out the ShakerShoe™. Get there early -- doors are at 8:30 and music starts promptly at 9:00 with Johanna Matthews. We'll be on at 9:45, followed by The Gentlemens Anti-Temperance League at 10:30. It's gonna be a great night --don't miss it!

And if that weren't enough, this Thursday, the 19th, it is once again time to hoot! The Mad Ripple Hootenanny is back in it's new weekly home at Harriet Brewing, and the Ripple himself, Jim Walsh, was kind enough to invite me to be part of the festivities. It's gonna be songs, stories and shenanigans with me, Chastity Brown, Shawn Gibbons, David Booth, Mike Gunther and Brad McLemore. The music runs 5:30 - 8:30, and it's FREE! Plus, we'll be in the middle of a brewery, which kinda seems like a win, so come on out and hoot!

Upcoming shows!

I'm excited to announce a couple of upcoming shows!

Monday, December 16, I will be playing the Artists Showcase at Moto-I in Uptown Minneapolis. I will be joined by a couple of the baddest men in town, Nick Salisbury on bass and Blair Krivanek on guitar. Get there early -- music starts promptly at 9:00 with Johanna Matthews, we'll be on at 9:45, followed by The Gentlemens Anti-Temperance League at 10:30. It's gonna be a fun night with lots of great music!

Then, on Sunday, December 22, I will be playing at the Acadia Cafe in Minneapolis. Joining me for this show will be the man himself, Mike Medicine Horse on guitar. It's been tough to get this guy out of the house, so come on down and see what amounts to a musical unicorn! Music starts at 8:00 with David Booth, followed by Aaron Tinjum at 9:00, with us closing out the night at 10:00. It's gonna be another great night of music!

So that's what's what. I hope you can make it out to one or both of the shows -- I promise a good, good time!

Singing, songwriting and open mics in Minneapolis

Jim Walsh, music writer extraordinaire, has written a great article on the open mic scene here in Minneapolis. He made the rounds with singer/songwriter/nicest-guy-you'll-ever-meet Doug Collins and paints a pretty fantastic portrait of a man kicking out the jams, two at a time. I managed to rate an incredibly kind mention as well. So get reading, and then get out to some open mics!
